Biographical
Sister Mary Anthony (Bridget Manix) was born in Limerick, Ireland, in 1822, the daughter of John Manix and Ellen Hartnett. She entered the Congregation, July 24, 1855. She received the Habit, September 24, 1856, and made Final Profession, August 15, 1859. From 1862 to 1866 she was in the U.S. Army Service and stationed at Louisville, Kentucky for three years followed by the City Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee. She died at Saint Mary's Convent, Notre Dame, Indiana, February 7*, 1908, and is interred in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, Indiana. [She died February 7, and was buried on the 8th. Records show both dates for death.] Sister Anthony was assigned to Saint Rose Academy, LaPorte, Indiana; Notre Dame du Lac, Saint Mary's Convent, Notre Dame, Indiana; Saint Mary's Infirmary, Marine Hospital, Cairo, Illinois (administrator); and Mount Carmel Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. Her ministries included cooking, being infirmarian, being secretary and assistant infirmarian, caring for the sick, administrator, pharmacist, druggist, and knitter.
