Biographical
Sister M. Gethsemane (Margaret Donnelly) was born in Ireland, the daughter of William Donnelly and Ellen Kerney. Her birth date was not recorded. [1844 appears on her death certificate and 1845 on the CSC obituary card.] Both of her parents were born in Ireland. She entered the Congregation on May 20, 1872. She received the Habit February 2, 1873 and made Final Profession March 31, 1877. She died at Holy Cross Convent, Notre Dame, Indiana, February 16, 1915, and is interred in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, Indiana. Sister Gethsemane was assigned to Notre Dame, Indiana. After her 22 years of working on the farm she was assigned to Holy Cross Convent, Notre Dame, Indiana where she served by assisting with the student's hose mending for 19 years. Sister had one relative who entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross: Sister M. Benedicta (Sarah Donnelly) [May 23, 1894]. Their exact relationship was not recorded.
