The Missionary Catechist 23 Number 3, February, 1947
Scope and Contents
This issue of the Missionary Catechist highlights the efforts of Sigstein, a Chicago priest, in establishing a community dedicated to providing religious instruction to Catholic children without access to parochial schools. The Society, celebrating 25 years in 1947, was founded by two women, Julia Doyle and Marie Benes, in 1922, initially serving the outlying missions of New Mexico. Over the years, their work has increased religious awareness and activity, including establishing juvenile Catholic libraries in parishes. The mission continues with a team of four Catechists reaching out to children in need of spiritual guidance.
