 Item
Identifier: HARC_010_9_6_0000_0000_0016

Scope and Contents

A painting depicts a Sister in a blue habit holding a lit candle on a tray, with two children—one holding her garment. The sister stands with her side facing the viewer. The child holding her garment is sitting on the ground on her left while the other child is standing to her right, hands in pockets and looking down, possibly frowning. A mission-style building and mountains are in the background. Signed “Maria M. Hughes” in the lower right.

On the back of the painting, there is a note that says: "Painting ordered by our founder, Rev. J.J. Sigstein in the 1930s."
