The tin painted caporal (foreman) came with a note card explaining: "The caporal (foreman) was the person the black slaves brought to Bolivia from African during the colonial times. The cane gave status and power to the caporal to demand more work from the slaves under him."
Archivist note: The caporal is shaped like a bull whip.

The box contains 2 Molas that were created in Panama and brought to Victory Noll in the 1950s. They were made by Cuna Indians who live in parts of Panama.There is a full explanation and card accompanying the framed Molas.
