History of our O'Fallon property
Scope and Contents
This is a set of eleven items documenting the land and building history of the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood (CPPS) motherhouse property in OFallon Missouri with particular attention to the Ahrens family's two acre parcel and the OFallon House The naming convention (HARC00351) suggests a single archival folder subseries The anchor document is a 39slide illustrated history An Illustrated History of our OFallon Property (files 0010 and 0011 which appear to be duplicate uploads of the same deck) Its a chronological narrative running from 1869 when eighteen German families petitioned the Archbishop of St Louis for a parish through the arrival of the Gurtweil sisters the founding of the OFallon motherhouse and successive land purchases and building campaigns down to the 20092018 redevelopment into Villa Theresa Abbey Senior Health and the current Precious Blood Center that houses the CPPS Archives Supporting the deck are primary and secondary property records A research memo by Tom Westhoff (Elmhurst IL Oct 23 2020) analyzing a June 7 1924 deed dividing Henry Ahrenss estate among his children plus later deed of trust transactions (19251931) touching the two acre OFallon House parcel It flags an unresolved question about the disposition of Anna Ahrens Westhoffs 16 interest An 1874 handwritten warranty deed (recorded April 1874) conveying the two acre OFallon House tract from Henry Muehlsiepen to Henry Ahrens the origin deed referenced in the memo A 1912 Sanborn style fire insurance map and an 1875 plat map of OFallon (Worley) both showing the H Ahrens 2a parcel and the Precious Blood convent A modern Google satellite view used as the decks title slide Photographs The OFallon House hotel (sepia likely 1870s80s) with staff patrons and a horsedrawn wagon The H Ahrens residence and saloon in OFallon (early 1900s).
